The steel sculpture on the N5 Bypass outside Longford Town by Alex Pentek represents the upper portion of a giant 20m long violin as if it has been partly unearthed by the newly cut-away embankment. Using a bold, elegant, yet simple visual language this idea aims to communicate Longford’s rich musical heritage as both an expression and as part of the surrounding landscape.
